Werken aan een duurzame wereld vanuit een holistische benadering, met een hele concrete tool als hulpmiddel. Zichtbaar en concreet bijdragen aan de Sustainable Development Goals 2030 en/of, zoals we dat in Nederland noemen, Brede Welvaart: de Common Good Matrix van ECG biedt hiervoor het juiste handvat. Het is nu tijd om ook in Breda organisaties, bedrijven, maatschappelijke initiatieven en overheid te activeren en te ondersteunen om aan de slag te gaan. De belangstelling voor verduurzaming groeit sterk, maar de drempel om gestructureerd aan de slag te gaan is nog groot. Dat hoeft niet.
Deze opdracht richt zich op de ontwikkeling, activering en mogelijk het opstellen van een Common Good Matrix. Het gaat erom de interesse te wekken van deze stakeholders en ze (bijvoorbeeld via een reeks kleinschalige events) te bewegen om een meting te laten plaatsvinden. De aanpak kan uiteenlopen van individuele gesprekken en via groepsbijeenkomsten.

Economy for the Common Good
De ‘Economy for the Common good’ (ECG) brengt naast de economische ook de sociale en ecologische impact van een organisatie/bedrijf op een holistische manier in beeld. Met dit instrument kan een bedrijf een scherpe diagnose maken van het eigen functioneren en van daaruit haar prioriteiten en beleid heel praktisch bepalen. ECG helpt om én het maatschappelijke ambitieniveau én de integrale impact van een bedrijf/organisatie in beeld te brengen. ECG pleit voor de waardering van de bijdrage van organisaties en bedrijven aan een breed gedefinieerd concept van welzijn of Brede Welvaart. De European Economic and Social Committee erkent ECG sinds 2015 als initiatief dat bijdraagt aan het streven naar de versterking van Europa als ‘ethical market’.
Voor het opstellen van de brede Common Good balans is een handboek beschikbaar waarin ondersteunende vragen staan weergegeven. De vragen kunnen op verschillende niveaus uitgewerkt worden. Om tot de formele audit van een initiatief, (overheids-) organisatie, bedrijf of gebiedscoöperatie te komen dient er een compact of volledige balans opgesteld te worden. Om het gemeenschappelijke leren te bevorderen en de inspanning te beperken is het mogelijk om een peer-evaluatie (minimaal 3 bedrijven) te doorlopen. Voor de kennismaking met ECG is een quick-test beschikbaar, waardoor er binnen een uur een eerste beeld van de organisatie en het instrument gevormd kan worden.
ECG in Nederland
Het Nederlandse chapter kent lokale afdelingen in Noord-Brabant, Utrecht, Noord-Nederland en Amsterdam. De lokale afdeling Ware Winst Brabant (WWB) in Noord-Brabant organiseert en begeleidt op dit moment de peer-evaluatie van vier bedrijven: Baril Coatings, Snew, Genoeg en Parktheater Eindhoven. Deze aanpak zorgt voor een inspirerende en leerzame dialoog tussen bijzonder diverse bedrijven die wel een gemeenschappelijke ambitie delen. WWB rondt deze peer-evaluatie in 2020 af.

It is now time to activate and support organizations, companies, social initiatives and government in Breda (also read: Tilburg or other Brabant cities/regions) to get started. Interest in doing it is growing strongly, but the threshold is still great. That's not necessary.
This assignment focuses on the development, activation and possibly drawing up of a Common Good Matrix. It is about arousing the interest of these stakeholders and inducing them (for example via a series of small-scale events) to allow a measurement to take place. The approach can vary from individual discussions and via group meetings.

Economy for the Common Good
In addition to the economic, the 'Economy for the Common good' (ECG) provides a holistic view of the social and ecological impact of an organisation/company. With this instrument, a company can make a sharp diagnosis of its own functioning and from there determine its priorities and policy in a very practical way. ECG helps to visualize both the social ambition level and the integral impact of a company/organisation. ECG argues in favor of valuing the contribution of organizations and companies to a broadly defined concept of well-being. Since 2015, the European Economic and Social Committee has recognized ECG as an initiative that contributes to the efforts to strengthen Europe as an 'ethical market'.
A manual is available for drawing up the broad Common Good balance sheet, which contains supporting questions. The questions can be elaborated on different levels. To arrive at the formal audit of an initiative, (government) organization, company or area cooperative, a compact or complete balance sheet must be drawn up. To promote common learning and limit effort, it is possible to go through a peer evaluation (minimum 3 companies). A quick test is available for getting acquainted with ECG, so that an initial picture of the organization and the instrument can be formed within an hour.
ECG in the Netherlands
The Dutch chapter has local chapters in Noord-Brabant, Utrecht, Northern Netherlands and Amsterdam. The local department Ware Profit Brabant (WWB) in North Brabant is currently organizing and supervising the peer evaluation of four companies: Baril Coatings, Snew, Enough and Parktheater Eindhoven. This approach ensures an inspiring and instructive dialogue between very diverse companies that do share a common ambition. WWB will complete this peer evaluation in 2020.
